Today I was reading The Secret at Eslite. I had always assumed it was a novel, and only today did I learn that it is classified under psychology. After reading The Secret, I have quite a few thoughts!

The Secret introduces the Law of Attraction, which says that when you keep thinking about something, it comes true. For example, if you keep thinking about winning a competition, you may actually win. This sounds like nonsense, but I think it is possible, and I believe the Law of Attraction exists! However, I do not think the reason the Law of Attraction works is what the book says, such as “humans are the strongest signal source in the universe.”

I think the Law of Attraction works not because our brain waves attract some force in the universe, but because a change in thinking brings about a change in ourselves. This may sound abstract. To be concrete: because you believe you can do it, your behavior changes, and so your chance of success goes up greatly. That is my view.

I came to think this way because of my own experience and because of some people around me. Many people are timid when it comes to doing things. They want to do something but are afraid of failing. But if you never try, how will you know whether you can succeed? If you want to do it, boldly go for it! The ancients said, “Think three times before you act.” I would like to add to that: “Press forward without hesitation.” Before you do something, you should think it through carefully, but once you have decided to do it, you should not look back! What you should do is press forward, and only by seeing it through to the end will you know the result! If you keep looking back, afraid of failing, how could you possibly succeed? If you have already decided you will fail, then no one can help you! This is the belief I have held all along!

I used to make the mistake of being overly timid. I clearly knew I liked someone, but because of my hang-ups, I was afraid of this and that. I liked them, yet kept looking back and asking myself whether I should like them at all. Only now do I understand that I did not need to ask whether I should like them, and did not need to fear getting hurt. The question I should have asked was whether they were worth liking. Unfortunately, it was all too late~ haha

Your dreams can be set very high. This is not being unrealistic. It gives you enough room to grow, because people have unlimited potential, as long as you believe you can achieve it!!
